The Student of the Department of Music Won the Prize on the Third Contest for Young Singers in Qingdao

The Third Contest for Young Singers about Od to the Motherland in Qingdao ended on May 19th. In the contest, a student of grade 2015 named Chen Yu, instructed by her teacher Zhang Nan from the Department of Music won the second prize in Bel Canto.

Qing Daos Contest for Young Singers is a high-standard and professional vocal music competition held by the government. This Contest is hosted by Qingdao Federation of Literary and Art and the Department of Publicity of Chengyang committee with the assistance of Musicians Association and other associations. There were more than 500 young singers in the city participating in the preliminary contest. After the strict selection and the semifinal, the top 12 of each group in National Singing, Bel Canto and Popular Singing entered the final. In the final, the committee invited some famous singers and vocal educators from China Conservatory of Music and Shangdong Opera and Dance Theatre to serve as judges. Wei Shengji, the secretary of Qingdao Federation of Literary and Art and other leaders attended the final and prize-giving.

Chen Yu, admitted to the Department of Music in 2015, was a pupil of Zhang Nan to study vocal music. In 2019, she was admitted to Benevento Conservatory of Music in Italy as a master in vocal music. In college, she won the first prize of “Shandong Contest for Young Singers in 2018, the second prize of “Shandong Seventh College Music and Dance Professional Basic Skill Competition and Qingdao Fourth District Contest for Young Singers, the gold medal of the Golden Lion Cup Youth International Art Competition (Shandong Division), and the advanced personal title of The New Era of Youth at UPC (China University of Petroleum). She performed as a solo and lead singer at the symphony concert of UPC many times, and held a Sino-Austrian exchange concert in Landsberg, Austria in 2016.
