The Student of the Department of Music Won the Prize on the Third Contest for Young Singers in Qingdao

On June 9th, the 8th National Interpreting Competition (Eastern District) was held in Suiyuan campus of Nanjing Normal University. Deng Yuyan, Zhou Lingyu and Qi Lin, the students from Department of English Language of Grade 2016, and Wang Baoyu, the MTI postgraduate, participated in the fierce competition and won the third prize with their excellent professional qualities and precise expressions. Meanwhile, Zhu Shan, the associate professor of the Department of English Language and Literature, won the Excellent Guide Teacher Award. It was the best performance since we had taken part in the competition.

 The competition emphasized on the comprehensive abilities, including interpreting level, responds ability and psychological ability, etc. The knockout proceeded in English to Chinese interpreting, which centered on the theme “Education Level of Economy and Finance in America”. In the finals, the topic of Chinese-English interpreting was “Global Environmental Governance”, in which many terminologies were involved, challenging the knowledge and interpreting abilities of the participants. The finals can be watched openly, which is more professional, challenging and ornamental.

 As one of the top nationwide interpreting competitions, the National Interpreting Competition was held by Translators Association of China. The competition in eastern district, undertaken by Translation Association of Jiangsu and other units, has attracted almost 120 competitors coming from nearly 100 universities located in Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Fujian, Hainan and Shanghai, etc.
